We are bringing in the brewers themselves to introduce their latest and chat it up with all you hopheads.  We’ll also have great specials on GoodLife brews plus a raffle with lots of great swag.  So mark the date and come down to Hawthorne to get one of the first sips of the GoodLife!

Neighborhood Hobnob at Fifteenth

This Wednesday, May 16th from 6-9pm, the Neighborhood Hobnob is hosting their free monthly networking event at the Fifteenth Avenue Hophouse! The Neighborhood Hobnob simply seeks to bring neighbors together to help establish community connections and enhance the atmosphere of our neighborhoods.  So come enjoy beers and cocktails on our patio and socialize with new and familiar neighbors alike!

Flavors of Summer

The sun is here and the blue skies have inspired our bartenders and chefs to add some summer flavors to our cocktail and food menus! Swing by the Fifteenth Avenue Hophouse to sip on an Indio Lemongrass Lime Basil Mojito while you wait for your Teriyaki Rice Bowl with fresh salmon, Portobello or chicken. We’ve also added a Watermelon Salad with feta, Blackened Salmon Filet with jasmine rice and sautéed vegetables and a Gyro to the menu. There will be plenty more tasty cocktails to go around including Summer Rye with Bulliet Rye, St. Germain and lemon topped with champagne and  our Berry Breeze cocktail with muddled raspberries and blueberries.

Head over to Hawthorne to try the Hot Pineapple Drop made with pepper infused vodka and our Seared Salmon dish served with sweet chili sauce and an arugula and avocado salad.  We are also adding a Sweet Pear and Mint Salad with toasted pine nuts to the menu and lots of additional cocktails including the favorite Hawthorne Tang and house-made Sangria.

And of course, we will also have refreshing summer brews on tap. Cheers and let the summer begin!

Benefits at Hawthorne!

The Hawthorne Hophouse is hosting a couple fundraising events in the upcoming weeks! First will be a benefit for the Treehouse Nursery School on Tuesday, April 10th. We will donate 15% of all sales between 6pm and 9pm to the Portland preschool whose mission is to provide an earth-based, early childhood education program in an organic, creative and loving environment.

The second benefit will be held on Tuesday, April 17th for the Portland Fruit Tree Project. The Portland Fruit Tree Project is a non-profit organization that seeks to provide individuals and families that have limited access to healthy food with fresh produce. They connect communities by empowering neighbors to share the harvest of their backyard fruit trees that would otherwise go to waste. The locally grown and cost-free produce is sustainably harvested and distributed by volunteers to individuals and communities that have a little or no access to fresh produce. We will be donating 20% of all sales between 5pm and 8pm on April 17th to this incredible grassroots organization. There will also be a raffle and informational booth for you to check out when you come in and support the cause!

Meet The Brewer Night with Flat Tail Brewing

There is no doubt that Oregonians love their beer, nor is there a shortage of breweries or brews to choose from. So when Flat Tail Brewery out of Corvallis, OR won the People’s Choice Award for the second year in a row, it was no small feat.  Now the Hawthorne Hophouse is bringing in the man behind the beer for a Meet the Brewer Night this Thursday, March 29th. Come in between 6 and 9pm to chat it up with the brewer while you sip on a nice selection of his creations!

Elysian Apocalypse Series

According to the Mayan calendar, the world is coming to an end on 12.21.2012. This is our chance to live it up and the brewers at Elysian are doing just that! They are on a mission to brew some of the wildest, most innovative and delicious brews before it all comes to an end. Each month on the 21st they will release an Apocalypse series brew of the utmost rarity and the Fifteenth Avenue & Hawthorne Hophouse will have them on tap! Although we are starting a little late in the series, we will be helping them to share their craziest brews from here on out starting this Wednesday, the 21st of March with the release Fallout Green Cardamom Pale Ale. These kegs are gonna go fast, so mark the 21st of each month as your night come to Hophouse  and grab a pint of the Elysian Apocalypse Series!

Beer snow cones?

Face it. You’re off work, because you couldn’t get childcare for your kids. They’re about 20 minutes away from driving you crazy, and it’s only 10:30. Your TV is on mute and you’re staring at the endless loop of reporters standing outside examining every solitary snowflake to fall on our fair city.

Come on down (walk, ski, whatever) to the Hophouse and get some lunch and a beer or two. Or come fill up a growler with some strong ale, chocolate stout or hard cider and make snow cones. Yum.

We’ve got a band tonight starting at 9:00 — the How Long Jug Band. By then you’ll be stir crazy…
